Memories to Last a Lifetime

Back to School

It is so hard to believe that it’s already time to send our little angels back to school. From a variety of great camps to enjoying some “down time” on the couch, our children are about to swarm the halls of schools everywhere. One item I always appreciated was the teachers that asked students to write down their summer break experiences in a report. They were to put their good memories along with their not-so-good. It was fascinating to read their points of view.

Supplies

When I was a child (you can just see the silvery white hair on my head, can’t you?), the first few days of school were pretty hectic because none of the kids had everything they needed. It was normally the same requirements, but we rarely planned ahead of time to pick up anything besides a few pencils, those big pink erasers, a box of BIC pens, and a paper tablet. Fortunately, these days, those needs are outlined well in advance. In addition, for our convenience, you can pre-order supplies in many districts so they are available for use on the first day. You would think the students would be thankful for that extra effort by parents and teachers...but...no.

Reactions

Interesting the different ways we can view this return to normal scheduling. We can feel joy that we now have a more relaxed schedule, our kids are not constantly asking for something, and we no longer need to drive them all over town to keep them busy. Orwe can admit we will miss having them around, needing and loving us. Young lives have a rejuvenating effect on our souls.

While the kids are away, the adults will stay!

That's right, it's back to school season, which may have you feeling nostalgic for the new notebooks and class schedule days. Unfortunately, nothing is ever new with you, so there's no reason to get excited, right? Wrong! The same old routine probably doesn't excite you quite the same way, but here are a few alternative ideas for how to return to your youthful self and satisfy the urge to get back behind the desk.

Back to Office

Hasta la vista, remote work! With more and more companies voting to head back to the office on hybrid schedules, the nation’s most online group will have to readjust to life tied to a location. Remember how you used to have a commute? Get back on the wagon by climbing in the station wagon. If you find it hard to find your groove, just unwind by browsing Target’s dorm room sales for things like a pillow, blanket, or bed frame. Make that office feel like home, since your home was already your office!

Back to Gym

With all the vacationing, long car rides, weddings, and more, you probably skipped the gym most days this summer. Well, worry not, we’re celebrating back-to-gym season! Get ahead of the New Year’s Eve-ers and restart your commitment to getting bikini body ready! Will it ever be ready? That’s for you and your therapist to decide.
