We put our heart in everything we do.
Consistency is Key!
We know that with school back in session and the holidays right around the corner, keeping our kiddos on a consistent schedule can be tough. Every day can feel like a balancing act. That being said, consistency is so important! Providing a steady environment, care team, and routine for our kiddos can make a huge difference in their safety, progress, and overall well-being.
Being consistent isn’t always easy, but there are a few simple steps you can take to help your child prepare each day. Remember, consistency does not mean perfection. Life happens, routines get interrupted, and none of us can be “on” 100% of the time. What matters most is aiming for predictability where it counts. Building small, stable habits—step by step—creates a strong foundation that supports your child’s growth.
Read ahead for ways that a consistent routine can benefit you and your child’s life!
Consistency Builds a Sense of Safety
Children—especially those with medical needs—crave predictability. Knowing what to expect is one of the best ways to reduce anxiety. Confidence in what will happen each day helps them feel safe and secure. This might look like receiving care and therapy at the same time from day to day, going to bed at the same time, or working with the same care team.
Consistency Supports Behavioral and Emotional Regulation
Children learn through patterns. When expectations and routines stay consistent, it helps them understand boundaries and feel more in control of their environment.
Progress Happens in Familiar, Supportive Settings
At Viva, families have the choice of receiving skilled nursing and therapy at home or in one of our Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Centers (PPECC). Both settings provide a consistent, nurturing environment that supports your child’s growth and development.
